Reach, Serve, and Love like Jesus

The grace that comes through the death and resurrection of Christ propels us out into world in ministries of justice and compassion and in witness to God's salvation.  We faithfully strive to provide for the physical, relational, and spiritual needs of those around us.

Below are a couple of Outreach events at Orange City UMC. Please also see our Outreach Updates page.

Night for Freedom Annual Event

The H.O.P.E. Team (Helpers Of People Enslaved) holds an annual event supporting the victims of human trafficking and raising awareness.

3rd Saturday Community Connection

This is an exciting ministry that helps us live out our mission to Reach, Serve, and Love like Jesus.  We provide a variety of services on one place to try and meet the needs of our friends and neighbors in the community, including members of our congregation.
Take a look below at a few of the ways Orange City UMC reaches out and serves the local community and the world!  If you are looking for the place that God is calling you to serve, discover your spiritual gifts and let them guide you into Spirit-filled ministry!  Click here to open the Spiritual Gifts Assessment.

Compassion & Witness

5000 Letters is a campaign by United Methodists in the Florida Annual Conference to contact state and federal government officials, urging them to seek legislation that will curb gun violence in this country. Join us in following Bishop Ken Carter’s call to speak for those whose voices have been silenced, for the sake of our children and their future.  Visit their website or ours for the link and information on how you can write a letter to help!
Orange City UMC is proud to be one of the offices for the  Greater Volusia Habitat for Humanity.   Help Habitat provide high quality, affordable housing by volunteering or donating.

 Mail Call Ministry

A ministry with our homeless friends the community.  Clients can receive their mail at the church while sharing a cup of coffee, snacks, and conversation with ministry servants.  Join us to develop meaningful relationships while providing for basic needs.  For more information contact Pat Parker Schwartz.

Manna Ministry

Ministering to those in need our Manna Ministry provides a bag of necessary items (socks, snacks, toiletries, resource list) at cost.  In turn we are able to give these out as we see someone in need in the community.  Contact the church office for further details about Manna Ministry bags.

Martha's Cupboard

A food pantry ministry of Orange City UMC.  Food
items are received from donations, and distributed at the 3rd Saturday Community Connection.  Donate food, offer financial support, or serve by preparing or distributing!  For more information contact the Church Office.  For a printable list of suggested items to donate click here!

Prayer Blanket Ministry

Gathering together in prayer for a specific person in need or celebration, we pray as we tie knots around these soft and comforting blankets.  You may join this group that meets once a month (or as needed).
Easily digestible, relatable information for people who are facing substance use issues — and for their support networks, too.

United Methodist Women

A wonderful tradition of the United Methodist Church, our United Methodist Women meet regularly to uphold their vision of supporting missions globally and locally.

Making a difference in the lives of orphans around the world by empowerment!  We are blessed to have been able to be a Hope Companion with ZOE Empowers.
